A Season Or So Ago
By: Adrielle R. Bollin
You know I have been in your shoes
I was there for a time in my life too
When I intently and intensely focused in
When I ached for meaning and release from sin
I was there
A season or so ago
I have danced your dance before
When the world gave all I asked for and more
A time I danced with all the sunshine on me
Once upon a time my smile refused to ever leave
Once upon a time
A season or so ago
And I have cried your tears time and again
You know how they refuse to cease or to mend
When the flood is relentless and never ends
So it creates a river that twists and bends
Yes, I swam that river
A season or so ago
You've been where I am before I'm sure
Wandering the shores of rest and confidence pure
When you know who you are and what you are not
And you refuse to be shoved into any melting pot
You've been where I am
A season or so ago
I was there
A season or so ago
Dear Adrielle, what a beautifully contemplative writing and a very personal take on walking in someone else shoes.
ReplyDeleteLove the last few lines.
And you images are always so full of life and so poetic.
Have a lovely Sunday,
xoxo
This is so soft and somehow refreshing.
ReplyDeleteThis has really struck a chord with me today. You have put into words some feelings I was having just this morning. You have such a wonderful way of weaving words and pictures together. Most of us have been on both sides and can understand how others are feeling and should be compassionate.
ReplyDeleteA moving piece, Adrielle...soft with empathy and
ReplyDeletepowerful with inspiration. The photos you've chosen are lovely and so evocative. Well done...I very much enjoyed this read...:)

Absolutely beautiful and moving piece of writing. I totally agree with LadyCat, we should understand and have much compassion for others, for we never really know what another is dealing with. It's wonderful that you can write so openly, it's good for the mind, body and soul.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for all your kind words. It is always a lift to see you have visited and left footprints on my blog.
Wishing you a beautiful, lovely, and ever so wonderful weekend.
