Thriving In The Jungle

Thriving In The Jungle
By:  Adrielle R. Bollin

Stampeding horses, thundering hooves
Stubborn buffalo, who refuse to move
But in comes the rider to guide and to lead
Directing the traffic until all of them cede

Emotions like these while I step through the doors
Preceding the moment, like lions they roar
Like a native who navigates the jungle with ease
You whisper your secrets of survival to me

With each step I take I'm a little less scared
Reminding myself again that you're always there
The road that I travel though covered with snares
Is worth all the risk to show that you care

For out in that wild and unforgiving world
Are people who need to see love that's unfurled
They need to feel peace like a swan on the lake
They need to see beauty that can give and not take

So while in the labyrinth of woolly wild beasts
I'll heed your advice and eat the rare feasts
For without my guide I am ruled by the chase
Backed into a corner and left in distaste

Looking Higher

Looking Higher
By: Adrielle R. Bollin

I'm looking again to beautiful heights
Seeing the possibilities, hope soars like a kite
For maybe up there in the azure blue sky
I'll see what you see with those great searching eyes

I've searched below in the mud and the dirt
Swam all the rivers of sorrow and hurt
I've seen all these people and heard who's to blame
Sometimes seems like evil has no reigns

Yet still often enough come these beautiful days
When I see why I'm here, why I'm kept in this place
I want to move on but it's not about me
Because sometimes it's patience that sets people free

The Forgotten Room

The Forgotten Room
By:  Adrielle R. Bollin

I didn't know about this room
Where so much pain and sorrow grew
It was right in here all along
Softly whispering it's dire song

How could I have missed the signs
Allowed myself to be so blind
Now all I can do is stare
As my panic fills the air

These walls are tumbling down
Like a hurricane the horrid sound
Irrational this surge of heat
As emotions are wild as fleeing feet

I step away to catch my breath
Look again from a new depth
When all at once it's clear to me
The prism light, distracting beam

The room I saw there in the dark
Filled with shadows which seemed to mark
Is nothing more than idle things
Which bathed in light remove imaginings

The voices I heard which menaced me
Are now as silent as the midnight sleep
For who can hide when soaked in light
Where can darkness go but into the night

Lost And Found

Lost And Found
By: Adrielle R. Bollin

Lost in a sea of rolling emotions
Tossed from knowing into the unknown
Seeing so clearly and then not at all
Tears that I've cried are hidden then shown

Lost in a world that I no longer love
Wary of evils which still remain plain
Charting new territory on familiar plains
Feeling excitement while fearing the pain

Lost with loneliness who endlessly taunts
And fear who takes refuge in dark murky air
Howling my name as I weep in despair
Doubt keeps me restless while securing his lair
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lost and found has been my life
Journeying both sides of peace and strife
Lost and found is all I've known
Tripped up in despair and in peace I've flown
Getting to know both darkness and light
Learning to rest and when to fight
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Found in the deepest recesses of shame
The faintest of light which seems far away
A window of hope to salvage the day
I cry out again and like a child I pray

Found as I open my weary blurred eyes
A hand outstretched and a wing in which to hide
A heart to uphold me to stand by my side
A love who has known me and with me has cried

Found is a haven of safety and rest
A peace like no other to hold to my chest
And slowly but surely I rise like a crest
Revealing the beauty where inside I am blessed
